An Elimination Match is a stipulation where multiple competitors are involved and are gradually removed until only one remains. This format can be applied to various match types.
Triple Threat Elimination Match
Also known as a Three-Way Dance, this match starts with three participants. After the first fall, the wrestler who loses is eliminated, and the match continues as a one-on-one contest. The winner of this final phase is declared the overall winner. Eliminations can also occur by disqualification (DQ).
Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match
Also referred to as Four-Way Dance, this match begins with four competitors. After the first fall, one wrestler is eliminated, leaving three participants. The match continues until only one wrestler remains. This format can also be adapted to a Four Corners Elimination Match if it follows Four Corners rules.
5-Pack and 6-Pack Challenges
These matches can also have elimination versions. In the 5 Pack Elimination Challenge and 6 Pack Elimination Challenge, competitors are eliminated one by one after each fall. The match continues until only one participant remains.
Elimination Tag Team Match
The Tag Team Match also has its elimination variant, where teams compete, and individual members are eliminated.
When a team member is eliminated, the remaining members of their team continue the match, often facing a handicap situation. The match ends when all members of one team are eliminated.
This format can also involve multiple teams, such as in a Triple Threat Elimination Tag Team Match or Fatal 4-Way Elimination Tag Team Match, and can also follow Tornado Tag or Four Corners rules.
Survivor Series Match
A prominent example of an Elimination Tag Team Match is the Survivor Series Match. Held at WWE's annual Survivor Series PPV, this match features two teams, usually consisting of five or four wrestlers. The contest continues until one team has eliminated all members of the opposing team, highlighting strategic team play and endurance.
