The Last Chance Match, also known as the Do or Die Match, represents the final opportunity for one of the two wrestlers involved to achieve their goal, usually winning a specific title.

If the wrestler fails this last chance, they will no longer be able to challenge for that title until the champion remains the same—the one they could not defeat.

In some rarer cases, the Last Chance clause does not prevent the wrestler from competing for the title while the champion remains the same; instead, it may impose a ban on title shots for a specified period (such as one year) or even permanently. The latter was the case in the match between Steve Austin and The Undertaker at WWF Fully Loaded 1999, where the Last Chance clause was applied permanently to Austin.

In most cases, the Last Chance Match is fought after a challenger has already failed several times to win that particular title in the recent past.
