A Gauntlet Match involves a series of consecutive singles matches. The format begins with two wrestlers facing off. When one competitor loses (by pinfall, submission, count-out, or disqualification), they are eliminated, and a new wrestler enters to challenge the winner. This process continues until all participants have competed. The winner of the final match is declared the overall victor. The total number of participants is usually announced before the match begins.

In some variations, the Gauntlet Match can be contested as a Handicap match, where a single wrestler (often a babyface) faces a series of opponents. The match concludes with a victory for the single wrestler if they win all their matches, or for the rival team if any of them manage to score a fall against the solo competitor.

Tag Team Turmoil

When Gauntlet Matches involve tag teams instead of singles wrestlers, they are referred to as Tag Team Turmoil Matches. In this format, tag teams compete in a series of matches, with the winning team facing a new team until all have been challenged. The final team standing is declared the overall winner.

Gauntlet Eliminator

This is a variation of the gauntlet match where two wrestlers start in the ring, and every four minutes, a new competitor enters until the entire field is in. Eliminations occur only through pinfall or submission, with the last remaining wrestler declared the winner.

Casino Gauntlet

The Casino Gauntlet is a modified version of the Gauntlet Eliminator used by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The match begins with two wrestlers, and additional entrants appear at randomly timed intervals, allowing for a total of 21 competitors. It is a one-fall match that can end at any point via pinfall or submission in the ring, even before all participants have entered. The winner receives a championship match in the future.
