The WWE Tag Team Championship is contested in World Wrestling Entertainment on the SmackDown brand, by men wrestlers.
The championship was first established on August 23, 2016, and the inaugural champion was Heath Slater & Rhyno.
Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan created tandem titles for SmackDown following the 2016 Brand Extension Draft. The first champions were crowned at WWE Backlash on Sept. 11, 2016, following an intense, eight-team tournament.
The current champion is the team of Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin), who won the title on the episode of SmackDown on October 25, 2024, and has been reigning for 26 days.
