On this page, you find the full Title History for the WWE Women's Championship ('56-'10), with all Championship Info, Statistics, the Belt Design changes through the years, and the full list of Title Reigns, along with dates, events, and reign durations.
The WWE Women's Championship ('56-'10) was a World Title contested in World Wrestling Entertainment and National Wrestling Alliance, by women wrestlers.
The championship was first established on September 18, 1956, and the inaugural champion was Slave Girl Moolah.
With a half of a century of tradition associated with it, the WWE Women's Championship is the pinnacle of female wrestling. The championship's first titleholder, Fabulous Moolah, is also considered the most successful, as her first reign lasted nearly three decades.
Since that original title's inception, Lita, Trish Stratus and many other great names have enjoyed reigns atop the women's division. Michelle McCool unified the Divas Championship and the Women's Championship at Night of Champions on Sept. 19, 2010, when she defeated Melina with the help of Layla to become the first-ever Unified Divas Champion.
The WWE Women's Championship ('56-'10) was retired on September 19, 2010, when it was unified into the WWE Divas Championship, with the final champion being Layla.
A similar championship, the WWE Women's Championship, has been later introduced, which does not share the lineage with this title.
