World Wrestling Entertainment is a Major pro wrestling promotion operating in the United States, based in Stamford, Connecticut, USA.

The WWE promotion was founded on January 7, 1953 by Vince McMahon Sr..

Founded in 1953 as Capitol Wrestling Corporation (CWC), it originally was part of the National Wrestling Alliance but left and became the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) in 1963, later renamed the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1979. After a legal dispute in 2002, it was rebranded as WWE.

The company was originally controlled by third-generation wrestling promoter Vince McMahon until 2023, when it was merged with UFC's parent company, Zuffa, under Endeavor's ownership to form TKO Group Holdings. McMahon served as executive chairman of the new entity until he ended his ties with WWE in 2024 following a scandal.

WWE is the world's largest wrestling promotion, featuring two main brands, Raw and SmackDown, along with a developmental brand, NXT. While primarily known for wrestling, WWE has diversified into other industries like film and football and licenses its intellectual property for video games and action figures.
