The AEW promotion was founded on January 1, 2019 by Tony Khan.
Tony Khan serves as the president and CEO of All Elite Wrestling, with financial backing from his father, Shahid Khan.
AEW launched its flagship weekly TV series, Dynamite, in October 2019, initially on TNT and later moving to TBS in January 2022. The promotion also produces other programming, including Rampage, Collision, and several television specials. AEW was previously home to the streaming series Dark and Dark: Elevation on YouTube until April 2023.
AEW is considered one of the largest wrestling promotions globally, second only to WWE in terms of revenue. Forbes ranked it as the third most valuable combat sports promotion worldwide, with an estimated value of $2 billion, behind UFC and WWE.
The company has partnership agreements with several promotions around the world. In addition, as Tony Khan owns both AEW and Ring of Honor (ROH), wrestlers from AEW frequently appear on ROH and vice versa.
