The championship was first established on December 24, 2018, and the inaugural champions were Sasha Banks & Bayley.
This is a newer version of the WWF Women's Tag Team Championship, with its own distinct lineage.
The NXT Women's Tag Team Championship was previously unified into this championship.
The current champions are Brie Bella and Paige, who won the title at WWE WrestleMania 42 on April 18, 2026, and have been reigning for 28 days (This was a fatal 4-way tag team match that also involved Bayley & Lyra Valkyria and Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair.
