In this stipulation (which can only be contested in a 1 vs 1 format), the two wrestlers are tethered by a strap or similar binding, which ensures they remain in close physical proximity throughout the match. The binding is typically a rope or a similar object.

This match can have two different winning conditions, either of which may be used: the first is by pinfall (only pinfall is allowed, not submission); the second is by touching all four corners of the ring in sequence, without excessively long interruptions between each corner, before the opponent can do so.

Count-outs and disqualifications are not in effect, though usually, the only weapon used is the strap or binding itself.

Several variants of this stipulation differ mainly in the nature of the binding:

  • Strap Match: The binding is a leather strap or long belt.
  • Bullrope Match (or Texas Bullrope Match): The wrestlers are bound by a rope used for tying cattle, which may also include a cowbell hanging in the center.
  • Dog Collar Match: The wrestlers are connected by a chain, but instead of being linked at the wrists, the chain is attached to dog collars worn by the wrestlers.
