The championship was first established on May 13, 2007, and the inaugural champion was Kurt Angle.
This is a newer version of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, with its own distinct lineage.
The Impact Grand Championship, TNA World Heavyweight Championship (unofficial) and GFW Global Championship were previously unified into this championship.
The current champion is Mike Santana, who won the title on the episode of TNA Impact! on January 15, 2026, and has been reigning for 119 days.
