Pro Wrestling NOAH is a Major pro wrestling promotion based in Tokyo, Japan.

The NOAH promotion was founded on June 16, 2000 by Mitsuharu Misawa.

A company formed out of the exodus of wrestlers from AJPW, mirroring the biblical story of Noah’s Ark, Noah is a company which prides itself on a hard hitting wrestling format named King Road’s style (with Ark). The company is seen as a spiritual successor to the 90s All Japan product, with an increased presence in junior heavyweight wrestling.

From 2002 to 2006, this company was the indie darling of the wrestling world and reached its biggest success. After years of being unable to promote a top star to replace the original Pillars of Heaven, as well as inability to take time off in risk of poor ticket sales, Noah’s founder Mitsuharu Misawa died in the ring in June 2009, sending shockwaves throughout the wrestling world.

In the time since then, the company has experienced various ups and downs in hope to regain the prestige of its glory years. A mid-2010s period where Noah relied heavily on NJPW for ticket sales proved nearly fatal once the partnership ended, highlighting the lack of homegrown stars at the time. In recent years, they’ve been in a period of resurgence, under new ownership and forming various partnerships with companies such as WWE.
