The NXT (Seasons) was a pro wrestling Reality Show held periodically by World Wrestling Entertainment.
The competition was established on February 23, 2010, and the first edition was won by Wade Barrett [Season 1], while the last edition took place on March 1, 2011 and was won by Fandango / Dirty Dango [Season 4].
Before its format change on June 20, 2012, NXT was structured as a competition divided into seasons. It was presented as a hybrid between reality TV and a live scripted show, where a number of aspiring superstars (wrestlers from FCW or WWE’s developmental territory) called "rookies" competed to become WWE's next "breakout star." Each rookie was paired with a "pro," a current WWE Superstar or Diva from RAW or SmackDown, who acted as their mentor.
Rookies competed weekly in matches against each other (sometimes involving their pros) and participated in various physical or skill-based challenges, which offered points or other rewards. As the contest progressed, eliminations took place, determined by the pros and/or fan voting, until three finalists remained. The final winner received a WWE contract and a future title shot (WWE Title for Season 1, Intercontinental Title for Season 2, Divas Title for Season 3, and Tag Team Titles for Season 4).
There were four completed seasons, with the third season reserved for Divas. The winners of each season were Wade Barrett, Kaval, Kaitlyn, and Johnny Curtis. The fifth season, named Redemption, featured former participants from previous seasons but never officially concluded. It continued until the format change, transforming NXT into a standalone brand with its own developmental roster.
