The tournament was established on April 6, 2022, and the first edition was won by Adam Cole , while the last edition took place on July 10, 2024 and was won by Daniel Bryan / Bryan Danielson .
This tournament was named in honor of Owen Hart, in partnership with The Owen Hart Foundation. The winner receives a trophy called "The Owen" and a commemorative championship belt, and starting from 2024 also an AEW World Championship match.
