New Japan Pro Wrestling is a Major pro wrestling promotion based in Tokyo, Japan.
The NJPW promotion was founded on January 13, 1972 by Antonio Inoki.
It is the largest and longest-running wrestling promotion in Japan. NJPW is currently owned by Bushiroad, with TV Asahi and Amuse, Inc. holding minority shares. Naoki Sugabayashi has served as Chairman since 2013, and Hiroshi Tanahashi became president in December 2023.
NJPW's most significant annual event is the January 4 Tokyo Dome Show, known as Wrestle Kingdom, held since 1992. The promotion was previously owned by Yuke's from 2005 to 2012 before being sold to Bushiroad, which leveraged NJPW's popularity to boost its trading card game, King of Pro Wrestling.
Throughout its history, NJPW has been affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance and has partnered with various MMA and wrestling promotions globally, including WWE, WCW, TNA, ROH, and AEW.
