Samuel Muchnick (born Jeshua Muchnick) was born in Novohrad-Volynskyi, Russian Empire (now Zviahel, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine) on August 22, 1905.
He died on December 30, 1998 at the age of 93.
He was the founder and longtime promoter of the St. Louis Wrestling Club, and is credited with formalizing the importance of the National Wrestling Alliance for much of its early existence, serving as president for a combined 22 years as it gained worldwide recognition on television. Muchnick is hailed as one of the most influential promoters of all time.
Sam Muchnick was inducted in the NWA Hall of Fame in 2005 and in the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame (PWHF) in 2003 as part of the Executive Division wing.
