JWP Joshi Puroresu was a Women pro wrestling promotion based in Tokyo, Japan.
The JAPANESE WOMEN PRO WRESTLING PROJECT promotion was founded on January 28, 1992 by Masatoshi Yamamoto & Kiyoshi Shinozaki, and it ceased operations on April 9, 2017.
A successor to the original Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling (JWP) promotion, the original JWP would be divided into two companies: “shooters” who would join Ladies Legend Pro-Wrestling, and “entertainers” who would join JWP Joshi Puroresu. New JWP's peak would be 1996 as it rivaled the declining AJW, but would be hit hard in 1997 due to the retirement of several top talent, and even the death of one Plum Mariko. JWP would close its doors in 2000, but would be reopened again in 2001 under new management, in the few years after being led by Command Bolshoi. JWP would become a leader in joshi puroresu in the 2000s, as top freelancers such as Kana and Emi Sakura would wrestle frequently for them, even forming partnerships with American promotion Chikara. Around 2012-2013 the promotion would enter a down period, ultimately closing in 2017 with one last anniversary show.
