Dale Martin Promotions was a Territory pro wrestling promotion.
The DMP promotion was founded on January 13, 1948 by Jack Dale, Johnny Dale, Billy Dale & Les Martin, and it ceased operations on October 27, 1992.
Dale Martin Promotions served as the most powerful and influential territory of the Joint Promotions cartel, remaining a part of the coalition for 40 years as other promotions came and went. Headquartered in London, and led by Les Martin and the Dale brothers, DMP would attract the United Kingdom’s biggest stars ranging from blue-eyes (faces) in Jackie Pallo to heels such as Mick McManus and Kendo Nagasaki.
After being bought out by the Hurst Park Syndicate, and eventually the William Hill Organisation, DMP would be the undisputed top dog in Joint Promotions as various promoters left in the 1970s. Max Crabtree would become DMP booker in 1975, ushering in a golden age of British wrestling as working class viewers watched the company’s exploits on World of Sport programming. As time went on, the company’s booking would grow increasingly stale as Crabtree pushed his brother, main eventer Big Daddy, well past his physical prime. Once Joint Promotions lost exclusive rights to wrestling broadcasts on World of Sport, it and DMP would suffer greatly in the years after to dwindling audience share. DMP would close in 1992, ending four decades of territorial wrestling in the Greater London area.
