Continental Wrestling Association was a Territory pro wrestling promotion operating in the United States, based in Memphis, Tennessee.
The CWA promotion was founded on March 20, 1977 by Jerry Jarrett, and it ceased operations on January 30, 1989.
Operating primarily in Tennessee and Kentucky, the CWA was a significant National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) territory during the 1970s and early 1980s. It was also affiliated with the American Wrestling Association (AWA) until 1989.
In 1989, the CWA merged with the World Class Wrestling Association (WCWA) to form the United States Wrestling Association (USWA), ending its existence as a separate entity. During its run, the CWA featured notable feuds such as Jerry Lawler vs. Bill Dundee in 1977 and Terry Funk vs. Jerry Lawler in 1981. Lance Russell and Dave Brown were prominent television commentators for the Memphis territory, including the CWA.
