John Cena vs. The Undertaker is yet another infamous match in MyFaction that will truly test WWE 2K25 players' skills and luck. Players who struggled with the previous SOTM live event versus Sami Zayn should know that the new Underground match is much harder to cheese. However, that doesn't mean it's impossible to beat The Undertaker as John Cena in this MyFaction bout.

This WWE 2K25 guide will cover various tips that should make this Underground match much more manageable. Casual players should be warned that a lot of skill is still required to win, and attempting this bout for an hour or more may be expected.

How to Beat the Undertaker '90 as John Cena '12 in an Underground Match for WWE 2K25 MyFACTION

First things first, it is highly advised to change the "Allow Held Input For Mini-Games" option in the settings to "Held" for convenience's sake. Here is how to do it if you haven't done so already:

  1. Head to the "Options" section on WWE 2K25's homepage.
  2. Select "Gameplay."
  3. Go to "Allow Held Input for Mini-Games”, and change it to "ON."

It is easier to win the Underground match against the Undertaker with submissions than by knock-out. After all, it's hard to know when you can KO a Pink Diamond Giant wrestler when the HUD is hidden. Being able to hold a single button for a submission is substantially more convenient for your controller or keyboard than button-mashing, especially for a difficult match where you may need to attempt this several times.

Before you get to MyFaction to attempt this match, here is a sound piece of advice: Go to movesets and check out the Undertaker '90's Finishers and Signatures. It is highly advisable that you know what moves will likely KO your much weaker John Cena '12.

Note: You must have the Bloodline or Deadman Editions of WWE 2K25 to practice against The Undertaker '90. If you don't have those editions, then you can't practice casual matches with him or look through his moves. Hence, you would just have to practice the fight against him in MyFaction and try to memorize when to counter his main moves.

The best way to maximize your chances of winning at the latest SOTM event with the Underground match is to ensure you don't get hit by multiple finishers and signatures. John Cena will easily get knocked out, especially if he's hit by 1~2 finisher(s), depending on how long the match has been going on.

That's why it's advisable to check the timing of when to counter the Undertaker '90's most dangerous moves:

  • Front Flip Clothesline 2 (Signature)
  • Tombstone Piledriver 4 (Finisher)
  • Chokeslam 5 (Finisher)

You don't have to worry about The Undertaker's Old School or Super Chokeslam 1 since there are no ropes for your foe to utilize. You can then use Practice Play (the button prompt on the bottom when editing a moveset should you not know how to start it).

Once you enter the Practice Play section, pause and go to Match Options. Go to the Special Meter option. Change it to Full if you want to see the timing of the Front Flip Clothesline 2. Change that option to Finishers if you wish to test the timing of the Tombstone Piledriver 4 and Chokeslam 5.

For instance, the Chokeslam 5 has two timings to counter. One happens before he grabs your throat and another right before he lifts you. The Tombstone Piledriver 4's counter window is right before he grabs you.

If you have two controllers, you can also do a casual exhibition match with John Cena '12 and The Undertaker '90. From there, just practice countering every move The Undertaker has. At the very least, you should try to get good at countering his finishers.

Note: The Reversal Prompt must be turned on to see when you can counter. You can turn it on under the Presentation section of the in-game settings.

Strategy Guide on How to Beat Cena Breaks Undertaker

DQ, Submissions, and KOs are all turned on for this WWE 2K25 Underground match. Here is a strategy guide on how to win as John Cena '12:

  1. Try to hit your finisher on him as soon as possible. You start with two finishers by default, while your foe has three. The reason you're doing this is because The Undertaker is of the Giant class, so it's good to go through his high health early on.
  2. Hit a second finisher if possible. If he reverses both finishers, quit the match and try again.
  3. Continue to beat up the Undertaker. Focus on ground grapples for your MFP requirements. Focus on moves that focus on the Undertaker's back, as one of the MyFaction MFP requirements for Powerhouse is to make your foe's torso red. Ground grapples count as both Grab Attacks and Heavy Attacks.
  4. Try to waste your foe's Resiliency if possible.
  5. Once you get all the MFP requirements done, hit a submission. John Cena's standing Bearhug is good for finishing him off. After three successful button prompts, completing the fourth and subsequent ones should be an easy victory. This works, even if it looks like the Undertaker is about to kick out early on.
  6. If he doesn't tap for whatever reason, then you can try again after beating him up some more.

You could win by KO, but winning by submissions seems to be the easier course of action. Just remember that your Attitude Adjustment can make John Cena stay on the ground just as long as the Undertaker stays on the ground late in the match by virtue of the stat difference.

You need to get good at countering the Undertaker's Finishers and his Signature for a good chance of winning here. WWE 2K25 players skilled or lucky enough to complete this SOTM event should be glad they don't have to try this brutal Underground match again.
