The WWE game series has one of the strongest Creation Suites in possibly all of gaming history when you look at just the pure number of options made available to the player. From facial adjustments to clothing options, and even entrance/victory celebration customization, the WWE series, in general, is unmatched.
WWE 2K22 is no different and has started a console new generation in the right direction. WWE 2K22 has been out for 6 weeks to many positive reviews for its new gameplay engine, graphics, presentation, and MyRise. While a lot of this is a huge breath of fresh air for new and long-term players alike, how did the creation modes transfer well from the previous game (WWE 2K20) to this one?
Now, WWE 2K20 is one of the entries into the series that often gets slack due to its poor launch and post-launch support. Those issues have been documented in many articles across the internet and many of the player-base opted to stay with the previous WWE 2K19 as the primary Wrestling and content creation fix. But glitches aside, WWE 2K20 did bring a decent boost to the pure amount of Creation options, mostly due to the Post Launch DLC packs.
Below is a side-by-side comparison between the creation suite options of WWE 2K22 and WWE 2K20? With a "restart" for the game's franchise, how does the new game compare to its predecessor?
A few notes worth mentioning before we get started:
- The WWE 2K22 information is current as of version 1.09. Any Future DLC or updates are not included currently.
- The WWE 2K20 information is current as of the complete version of the game with ALL DLC included.
- This is a pure numbers comparison. If an entrance, victory, or move was reanimated with the previous version being deleted, it wouldn't count as a new animation.

WWE 2K22 Creation Suite: The Good
WWE 2K22 kept most of the basic creation options available from 2K20. For items of stars that are no longer in the game, they tried to modify the gear rather than remove it outright (Daniel Bryans's gear is still available without the Yes/Daniel Brian logos as an example).
Create a Championship, while relatively the same as 2K20, did receive a lot of improved parts to closer match the quality of the in-game championships.
WWE 2K22 Creation Suite: The Bad
Obviously, a lot of new creation options were not added. To a lot of the player base that migrated from WWE 2K19, this will feel brand new to you if you didn't play much of 2K20.
The lack of new options in Create an Arena (2 new arenas, one being the same arena with the Thunderdome stage, and the 5 Thunderdome parts being added to the construction & stage) is also disappointing. These can be looked at as lower priorities as the Dev Team focused on the Gameplay engine itself, along with graphics and presentation.
This could be something that is looked at in more detail in WWE 2K23, with things like the Arena templates from MyGM and the arenas from MyRise possibly giving more potential to creators of Arenas and Shows.
