The WWE Intercontinental Championship is a secondary title contested in World Wrestling Entertainment on the Raw brand, by men wrestlers. The championship was first established on September 1, 1979.
This is a newer version of the WWF North American Heavyweight Championship, with its own distinct lineage.
The WWF European Championship and WWF Hardcore Championship were previously unified into this championship.
The current champion is Sami Zayn, who won the title at WWE WrestleMania XL on April 6, 2024, and has been reigning for 41 days.
